Everyone has their own favorite cathedral. This is mine, Mt. St. Michael. It's not the best example of anything, it's just really cool.

This cathedral is built on the top of an old Abbey that was built on an island. Well, it's an island when the tide is out, it's a peninsula when the tide is in.

The top part is unmistakably gothic.

However, some of the lower halls are less severe with the pointed arches.

Here's some ribbed vaults, and some great spires.

And... I could not resist the silhouette shot.

For the tourists? Yes, that's a drawbridge ;-) It doesn't look very functional to me though.
