Fantasy Images

(Black and White)

These are some of my pictures that I have scanned for one reason or another. Some were made for a reason, but most were ultimately used for another. I quite often do these pictures as classroom examples, and produce them on a regular basis for this purpose.

Alien Woman

Pen and Ink 11" x 14"
I created this image to enter in the Fandom Directory black and white art contest, and never sent it in. I did end up using it on a flyer for a game day event, but other than that it has just sat around on my hard drive.

Alien Woman

Bob

Bob

Pencil 13"x20"
Bob the Incredible was drawn from a collage that I put together to show how to use a grid to enlarge a picture. I sort of think of him as Indiana Jones' Grandfather.

Brain Sucker

Pen and Ink 8.5" x 11"
After reading a call for freelance artists on the Kenzer & Co. web site, I doodled this in my sketch book. Yep, it's my vision of an old AD&D Mind Flayer. I sent a scanned copy of it in with a brief resume, but I never heard back from them about it. Oh well...

Neo Arthur

Neo Arthur

Pen and Ink 11" x 14"
This image was initially one of two created for the DarkCon 3 game convention. I originally had intended to use it as the convention book cover until we managed to get a great image from an artist guest (Quinton Hoover). Instead, it was also slated to appear on the DarkCon 3 t-shirt which never materialized. I later colored this image with acrylic washes.

Book

Pen and Ink 8" x 12"
I found this in an old portfolio. I'm pretty sure it's an old high school drawing, or my first year of college. The "T" on the cover would indicate that it's an illustration for a module I wrote back then. I don't have the module any more, but the picture survived.

Cat and Mouse

Cat and Mouse

Pen and Ink 11" x 14"
This image was meant to be the cover of an RPGA module. It was my opinion that these modules always look too plain, and a bit of artwork might spruce it up. I sent it in, they published the module but never used the picture. I guess their opinion doesn't match mine.

Dark Furie

Pen and Ink 11" x 14"
This is just a spur of the moment illustration of a Champions character I once had in mind.

Dark Furie

Darkstar

Darkstar

Pen and Ink 8.5" x 11"
This was an illustration I did from an RPGA module I ran once. I eventually used it for the cover of the old PGCO (Players' Guild of Central Oklahoma) NETWORKS newsletter. This image also occured next to my brief bio in the DarkCon 4 convention book.

Dragon's Eye

Pen and Ink 8.5" x 11"
This is yet another illustration inspired by an RPGA module. It was also used for a cover of NETWORKS.

Dragon's Eye

Irwin Allen

Irwin Allen Tribute

Pencil 11" x 14"
Someone found an old publicity photo of a younger Jonathan Harris, and I started sketching from it. It grew into a little private research about the Television programs of Irwin Allen, which I have represented here both with one actor from each series and with the images in the background. The console in the background is from the original model of the Jupiter 2. This image ended up in the 1998 Fandom Directory.

Ivory and Steel

Pen and Ink 11" x 14"
Ivory and Steel is a game, music, and comic book store in Stillwater, OK. In an issue of their newsletter, they announced a T-shirt design contest. This was my entry. I never heard what design was selected.

Professor Pendraco

Professor Pendraco

Pen and Ink 9" x 4"
Once upon a time I began writing a Champions module with the RPGA in mind. For this module, I needed a group of super heroes, and this was one that I had in mind. Eventually, I scrapped the idea of a new super team, and went directly with the characters outlined in the basic rule book. However, I did have each of the super characters designed. I did manage to make this image into a web graphic. He was originally displayed on my front web page.

Snow Leopard

Pen and Ink 9" x 4"
This was another hero on the above mentioned team. I ended up using this image in the DarkCon 3 program book for the anime schedule page.

Warrior Woman

Warrior Woman B/W

Pen and ink 11"x17"
This was a picture from left field. Someone contacted me via the internet and asked me to do a picture of his wife in a certain design of chainmail. He sent pics of her and the mail along with a pose that some other artist had sketched for him. He paid in chainmail. I now have a collar made of the stuff, but I don't know when I'll ever wear it. After I created this basic drawing, I added a background and some color.

Pouch

Pen and Ink 8" x 10"
This was an illustration for something I was working on at the time, but I forget exactly what.

Pouch of Ralashaz

Quaggoth

Quaggoth

Pen and Ink 5" x 12"
I was obviously illustrating some sort of AD&D project at the time, but I really do forget exactly what I had in mind for this critter. I used him as a web graphic after doing a little bit of colorizing.

Trek Women Officers

Pencil 11" x 14"
This is another B/W image that I did for entry into the Fandom Directory.

Trek Women Officers

Pooka

Pick Pocket Pooka

Pencil 12"x18"
This is a picture that I drew from a collage that I made. I thought it was sort of silly and I stuck it up on Elfwood. Oddly enough, the last time I updated pictures on Elfwood, this one was rejected because the clothing was not fanciful enough. It struck me as odd that wings and an over sized head does not counterbalance a striped bikini top. What annoyed me the most was that it had been in my fantasy gallery there for well over a year, and I was told to move it to the sci-fi section. Is this sci-fi?
